In "Metro New Orleans" we seem to have a resident population of
Monarchs. How much of this is due to numerous gardens with A,
curassavica is guesswork. In town we have not had a freeze this winter.
I have had many calls from gardeners who have more larvae than milkweed
all through January and February. A few adults have been reported from
Bonnet Carre Spillway - between New Orleans and Baton Rouge. Native
milkweed doesn't thrive in the metro area, but I'll try to check that
in the Spillway and swamp land in nearby areas.
