Our first shoots appeared May 5th. This is more than 2 weeks earlier than in any of the last 3 years! The students have a variety of ideas why this happened. "It has been moist under the snow." "They were warm and growing under the snow." "It rained and the snow has melted and there have been 4 hot days." "It has been warmer for the last week. Also it has been rainy for the last couple of days." "Maybe because they were planted in really good soil. Tulips planted in late October and in mid November both emerged the same day. I guess that answers one of our questions - Do tulips planted earlier emerge earlier?
