Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 03/06/2004

Number: 1

About 2 months ago we spotted 7 Monarch caterpillars on our stragly milkweed. With tender loving care we moved them inside and outside as needed during the coldest times, unfortunately they did not flourish. one by one they fell off of the milkweed. We even transported fresh milkweed from our other garden to nourish them; with only one survivor left he made his chrysalis on the side of the pot. after an unusally long time we thought perhaps he would not mature but he flew away without our observation on Friday, March 5th ...this was a real learning experience for the difficulties that Monarchs face in thier struggle to survive.
Thank you Journey North for providing us with the tools to observe and report all of our many sightings...you have given us new eyes...
