All Other Signs of Spring

Date: 03/09/2004

Number: 1

A large flock of Cedar Waxwings are roosting in the pine trees on the front of our school grounds. They were spotted flying over the school. They circle around and around and then all of a sudden swoop down on the holly trees and other bushes and trees that have berries on them. They eat all the berries and then go back to rest. We have spotted them with binoculars and were lucky enough to watch them in a low growing tree full of berries. They will stay for a couple of weeks and then we won't see them until next spring. They are beautiful and always a wonderful sign of spring for me and my class.
