All Other Signs of Spring

Date: 03/13/2004

Number: 1

All redbud trees are in full bloom on our TMI campus. Texas oaks are beginning to flower. On our signs of spring walk we found bluebonnet rosettes, none blooming yet. Wildflowers blooming: slender-stem bitterweed and Dutchman's Britches. We observed small nymph grasshoppers and very small butterflies (hairstreaks). One black swallotail was seen. Mockingbirds, golden-fronted woodpecters, scrub jays, cardinals, housefinches, chickadees, titmouse were seen at feeders or birdbaths.
