The sun's first peek over the horizion was greeted with the joyful bubbling music of our group of robins. One part joy, one part challenge - they competed with KaChing, the red winged blackbird, to write a wonderful morning symphony! After yesterday's dreary black and white photograph of a blustery day, it was a real incentive to get out of bed and open the upstair's door! After that first burst of rippling notes, the robins are quietly stalking the lawn in front of our big shop. Wonder if worms sing? From their behavior, aggressive posturing, sort of birdie shoving tactics, I suspect male birds like KaChing migrate ahead of the females. So are they really staking out their homesteads or just sick of all the ladybirds chat and peck gatherings? They remind me of elementary school yard toughs as they threaten one another. Temps aren't supposed to be much above 40* this week, as mid-March arrives. My first seed order arrrived Saturday, Spring is on its way!
