Not much green about the landscape today! The resident robins held a rusty sounded choir practice at dawn, that included a mournful killdeer's input, and a Canada goose who was foraging in the cornfield rubble. They need more practice, seemed to be KaChing, the red wing blackbird, seemed to think as he warbled his wonderful fluid song! Then the rascal headed for the bird feeder to unload it for the waiting flock of mourning doves! Time to fill the SuperSoaker and tickle his tailfeathers! We go thru this every spring! Later in the morning, a male bluebird sang his heart out near the trumpet vine, probably to remind me to clean out the boxes. Unfortunately, the English sparrows win the battle every year for the bluebird boxes; our blues just aren't very feisty! So they end up nesting in the woods, drat! Not much for the birds to talk about today, cold, gray weather.
