Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/17/2004

Number: 1

I caught a second monarch in Tallahassee yesterday, March 17. It was a
female, like the one I caught here on March 9. However, unlike the first
monarch, which was quite worn, this one was in pretty good color and
condition. I suspect this one might have been an offspring of monarchs that
over-wintered along the Gulf coast, just south of here. Both of these
females were going through egg-laying motions on milkweeds, but neither of
them were producing eggs.
