Tulips EMERGED

Date: 03/17/2004

Number: 1

Our tulips must be partly Irish since they decided to pop up for St. Patrick's Day. I took the students out to see theirhappy surprise. As we neared the garden you could hear the first student who made a sighting, "I see one, I see one!" You should have heard the gleeful shouts. It made all the work to get the garden ready very worth while. We have checked on them a couple of times now. Things look good.

I kept one bulb to force in the class room. It didn't seem to want to be forced! The foliage slowly grew, it has the beginning of a bloom. It does not look happy. The edges of the foliage are turning brown. I will be amazed if it flowers. In a lot of ways it has just maintained the same growing schedule as if it had been outside.

We're waiting for the flowers!
