Tulips EMERGED

Date: 03/31/2004

Number: 1

9 bulbs have emerged in the Journey North garden. 6 of them have buds. The buds have a red coloring. Unfortunately, some animals are eating the leaves. We have been measuring the tulips in our garden bed and most of the plants grew 1/2cm per day.
The soil temperature ranged from 50 degrees Farenheit to 58 degrees Farenheit. On one of our warmest days, the soil temperature was 60 degrees Farenheit.
The outside temperature ranged from 51 degrees Farenheit to 72 degrees Farenheit.
In our experimental garden, the tulips that we planted upside down, only 2 have emerged. One is 2 centimeters tall and the second is 8 1/2 centimeters tall.
In our experimental garden, the tulips we planted facing east, only 1 grew. It is 4 1/2cm tall.
