Barred owl sighted at 1:00 pm in my front yard. His call is very loud and very distinctive. "hoo-hoo-too-HOOOOOO!" He has been visiting us for a couple of weeks now but this is the first time I have actually seen him. I heard him last summer but never caught a glimpse. I hope he will stick around and prey on those pesky mice, squirrels, and chipmunks that invade my garage and garden.
