Once again the cattails of central minnesota are swaying to the territorial songs of the red-winged blackbird. in the ditches, marshes, and swamps, the males of the species are laying claim to their patch of breeding ground. my first sighting of this welcome sign of spring was at 4:17pm under bluebird skies, with a slight breeze out of the west and temperatures in the mid 50's. softwater fishing can't be far away!
