In Detroit, Michigan, on March 31, 2004, I observed my first female robin - gray rather than black head, and duller brick colored breast. Also, it was in the company of a male. We have several robins in our neighborhood now, but this was the only one that appeared to be a female. Robins dimorphism is a fairly tough call, but easier if pictures were available on the web, and of course, if two different looking robins are together!
