The old tulip beds burst open with vivid red colors on Monday of this week. The new tulip bed decided not to bloom until three days later. We were all waiting impatiently for our own tulips to bloom. First we had three blossoms and then today we had seven more tulips open up. After a long snowy winter, our spring has been drier than usual. Blossoms on the tulips seem to be lasting longer than last year, because of the beautiful warm days. Ground temperatures ranged from 56 degrees at the end of March, to 98 degrees on April 7. (we are just recording a microclimate area) Air temperatures were cooler, as we still have snow on the mountains around our valley, ranging from 61 degrees to 83 degrees.
