My mom had just been saying that this was the date of last year's first hummingbird, when a few minutes later, she calls us over: "There's a hummingbird at the feeder!" Sure enough, a beautiful male ruby-throat had landed at the window feeder. The hummer feeder happened to be empty from a leak. Then he checked out the red suet feeders. Needless to say, I immediately made some sugar water, and my sister repaired the leak! I have since seen 1 more male and 1 more female, and have been able to hand-feed the dominant male!
