We bought a milkweed plant a few days before and it had several monarch eggs on it. On 3/17/04 we observed an adult monarch laying eggs on the plant. About two weeks ago those eggs hatched. There were five larva from those first eggs. One larva survived. The other four "disappeared". That last one is two inches today and very fat. We are waiting for him to start his change. Meanwhile the 'new' eggs have hatched and we have 10 larva on that one plant. We are looking for more food plants! We are planting a butterfly garden to keep them coming back to our yard.
