Tulips BLOOMED

Date: 04/15/2004

Number: 1

We are very excited that 8 of our 9 Journey North plants bloomed. We are amazed at how big the blossoms are. They are enormous. We have never seen such pretty blossoms on a tulip plant! Unfortunately, one of the blossoms snapped off.
When the sun reflected on the plants' petals, they were shiney and looked like they had a purple coloration. The anthers were purple and the stigma was thick and is yellow and red in color. The remaining tulip has one bud.

One of the tulips in this plot is not growing taller. It is turning white and doesn't look healthy. The leaves have a bump on them and we aren't sure if it was damaged by an animal.

In our experimental plots, there is only one tulip emerging in the bed where we planted the bulbs facing east.

In the second experimental plot where we planted our tulips upside down, only 2 plants are growing. There are still no buds.
