MONARCH (1) seen by experienced butterfly observers Anne
Shanahan & Adele Gotlib, & others, in Central Park, NYC,
investigating a flower garden but not seen alighting. It
is a notably early date for this species here but is NOT
unprecedented.

We've had a southerly flow of weather for
several days now and this clearly has allowed the migrant
butterflies - and other winged fauna - to begin to arrive.
