All Other Signs of Spring

Eastern box turtle observed climbing up the hill from Little Difficult Run. I think he winters in the stream bank some 40 yards north of the house. He has nested in my flower bed for the past four years. Last year I observed him mating and the female was seen to be scraping out a nest for her eggs. I never saw the hatchlings. I know he is male from the bright orange coloring on his front legs. He has burrowed into the pine needle mulch next to the concrete foundation of my house. The flower bed has a southern exposure.
