Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/25/2004

Number: 1

We have only seen two monarchs in the immediate Texarkana area. We drive to Grandview Prairie, about 35 miles northeast of Texarkana, on Sunday. We saw 10 monarchs. Two were very faded, but the others looked like they had recently emerged - very bright and healthy looking. Most were feeding on purple verbena. There is an abundant amount of A. virdis for the monarchs to lay eggs on.
