Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/28/2004

Number: 1

No Monarchs sighted in central Little Rock to date.

Weather has improved since last weeks rains. Past four days have been sunny with lows around 50 and highs in the upper 70's.

Have been checking 13 pots of milkweed in bloom outside of the UALR greenhouse. No adults, eggs, or cats observed.

Spent 5 hours outside at a nearby state park and observed many butterflies of other species, but no Monarchs. Native four-leaf milkweed is in bloom in woodland understory. Plants are about 10 inches tall with about a dozen white blooms.

Will continue daily observation rounds until first adult, egg, and/or cat are observed.
