This report is not a first sighting as small numbers of Common Loons winter on the reservoirs of southwestern Virginia. But it is a report of a "fall out" during several days of rain in mid April. On April 14th, in Henry County and in the City of Martinsville, there were at least 303 Common Loons. 95 of these were resting on Beaver Creek Reservoir in Martinsville, and 208 were seen at Goose Point on Philpott Reservoir at the border of Henry & Patrick Counties.
