Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/07/2004

Number: 1

I have 4 milkweed plants that I planted on April 9th. Yesterday the plants looked fine though I didn't inspect them closely. Today while mowing the lawn, I noticed that they were looking scrawny so I went for a closer look and was thrilled to discover at least 20 monarch caterpillars feasting on the plants. Needless to say, I will be buying more plants to keep them eating. This is my first time to have milkweed in my yard and I am thrilled with these caterpillars. I will enjoy checking their progress every day.
