Oriole (1st Baltimore)

Date: 05/08/2004

Number: 1

When outside on my deck, I heard the unmistakable flutelike melody of a Baltimore Oriole from afar- this particular bird's song carried 2 pair of alternating, descending pitches. I grabbed my binocs and walked down the street following my ears. I saw it fly from a tree across the street and disappear into my neighbor's maple. I waited patiently to hear it sing again and at last spotted the first male of the season. Still waiting to see it discover the oranges and jelly in my own yard!
