Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/10/2004

Number: 1

It appeared to be a fresh new butterfly (gorgeous!)
and my first graders were so excited to be the first
to spot one at our school in our butterfly garden.
Our perennial asclepsias are up (not blooming yet) but
the common milkweed has not appeared yet. The monarch
was hovering around our lilacs. Yesterday was warm,
cloudy, humid and it rained most of the afternoon. Our
sighting occured at about 1:00 p.m. CDT.
