First observed male nectaring at a feeder and then a hanging pot of Fushia on the sixth of May. Since that date have seen two different males daily in our Wildlife Garden at the Lourdes College Life Lab. The feeders have been up two weeks and several hummingbird-attractive plants were in bloom when they were first set out. We delayed hanging potted plants by the Garden windows until early May because of cold night temperatures. Several parents accompanying students to the Life Lab for field classes remarked they had seen a Ruby-throat in their home garden. It's very possible the males have been in the area for two weeks or more. All the classes appreciate our Journey North updates and many actively engage the website. Thanks again.
