Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/13/2004

Number: 1

I saw my first Monarch of the season this afternoon. It was about 80 Degrees F. A muggy day but the rain and big storms in Western NY missed us. It seemed to be more interested in the Lilacs in bloom than any of the milkweed around. However it flew up to me. I had been planting milkweed earlier. This is a common experience for me when I plant milkweed, or handle significant amounts of milkweed seed.
