Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/13/2004

Number: 1

Just helped plan/install a butterfly garden with 4 large pots of swamp
milkweed and 7 pots of butterfly weed, plus numerous other host and nectar
plants for other butterflies at Hunters Woods Elementary for the Arts and
Sciences in Reston, VA. It is 4 ft wide by 50 ft long. This was done on
Saturday, May 8 and a Monarch was sighted in the area on May 13. The
teacher is definitely sure it was a Monarch because she and I have been
growing and tagging Monarchs every fall now for the past 3 years. If you
plant it, they will come.
