Sidney, IA- A former student(who has helped me watch for monarchs and milkweed each year)reported that she has seen a monarch near her house,May 11th, 2004. She lives just a few miles from the SW corner of Iowa. I went out to check out the area and found swallowtail butterflies and milkweed plants, too. This same student three years ago found a monarch that had migrated from Mexico into Iowa in April!
