The first monarch I've seen this year here
in Batavia, IL was on Wednesday, May 12th. It looked in good shape.

I've been traveling out of state and had not spent enough time searching for
the first milkweeds. By the day of that sighting, the milkweed was already
out and 6 inches tall (now it's more like 12 inches tall).
