today i had my first sighting of monarchs, 2 large and very fresh females laying dozens of eggs in the milkweed patch
i watched one lay 20 eggs! i was sitting on the ground and was withing 12 inches of her as she laid
it was too exciting, as last year, i only found 3 eggs and saw one tattered femal at the end of the season
