First monarch of the season! Spotted today rapidly flying north while I was rapidly driving southon the same highway. It's been cool, cloudly and rainy for about two weeks. The sun appeared briefly this afternoon while I was visiting the famous Kust family (the family spent a year at the monarch sanctuaries). We wondered aloud when we'd see the first monarch, and so it was especially fun to spot one while driving home after the visit.
