Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 05/28/2004

Number: 1

I saw some pearly crescents out at West Chicago Prairie the last two
weekends, but no monarchs. The milkweed is over knee-high, and by this time
we would expect to see at least a few laying eggs, and some partially eaten
leaves. But no luck. And that in a ecological gem as pristine as you get,
hundreds of acres' worth! and well-connected to northerly and southerly
flyways.

I'm going to check out the lakeshore and one of our nature centers this
weekend, tho, and report back if I find any!
