Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 06/17/2004

Number: 1

Two weeks ago I saw a monarch butterfly on the milkweed in our school butterfly garden. I have noticed circular holes on the milkweed but didn't see any larvae. Last night I spotted what looked like two second instar larvae! Upon further investigation I saw three others on the milkweed in the garden. One looked like it might even be a small third instar. The garden is new this spring so needless to say, I am very excited!
