Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 08/26/2004

Number: 4

6:15-6:30pm - Sighted 4 individual monarchs flying southeast through the yard. They nectared on bee balm and butterfly bush in the garden for a short while before flying from tree to tree to select a roosting spot for the night. After checking out oak, maple and elm trees they finally roosted tightly together on a branch of a birch tree approximately 15 feet off. There was no flashing observed.
