After a summer of bumper crops of milkweed but no monarchs, I have seen 4 flying around in the last week. And in the same amount of time I found two 3-4 instar cats on A. syriaca in my garden. On 8/30 I tagged two that were nectaring in my garden--they flew up in a directional way. Then a beautiful big female oviposited numerous eggs on what is left of my milkweed. I gave up after watching her for 45 minutes.
