At my home in Glenwood,MN on the shore of Lake Minnewaska, I have found a total of 10 monarch larva in varying instars(between instars 3-5) in the last 2 weeks. 4 were found on my little patch of milkweed, 4 on one butterfly weed plant and 2 on another butterfly weed plant. As of today I could only find 2 larva and yesterday noticed one lone monarch butterfly in my garden, it is still here today. I am assuming 8 of the larva have gone off to form their chrysalis but I could not find them. This count is down from last year so far, I had over a dozen larva on my various plants last year.
