Although only ONE butterfly, I saw a monarch settling down for the night in the tall hickory tree out in the yard.
I also saw a monarch yesterday in Norwich, Vermont, in clear directional flight, headed southwest to Mexico.
Other than these, I saw only TWO monarchs all summer, and I didn't see the first one until late July. My office looks out on a field of clover and alfalfa so I'm able to watch continually for nectaring monarchs.
