Things have been very slow although from time to time we get a start.
Usually by this time we have tagged 1000 monarchs. This year we are
still struggling with our first 100. We have also found that all
catepillars which people have tried to raise in the area have been
infected with the parasites. We saw trees with 20 - 40 monarchs early
in September but not lately. The Monarchs are resting a lot higher in
the trees this year than most also. Ususally, they are within the first
15 - 20 feet of the ground. This year most of the small groups are
settling 20 - 30 ft up.
