A half dozen Monarchs, both fresh and quite faded and worn were taking nectar at
the Doug Blachley Butterfly Garden in Zilker Park in Austin, Travis Co., TX,
today 23rd Sept. They appeared to be feeding rather than passing through.
I
suspect the worn ones are new arrivals but the fresh ones may be local-grown.
I
see about one a day in my own yard located in streamside gallery woodland just
east of and paralleling the Balcones Escarpment. These appear to be on the
move.
