Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/23/2004

Number: 1

After a 1" rain, a cool front and sunny skies, 5 monarchs were observed in about an hour flying south across our yard. Later, when visiting their usual roost, about a dozen were counted. We expect more to come in today in cool, sunny weather and quiet winds.

We have been observing hundreds if not thousands at about this time for many years. If I get a good photo, I'll send it.
