Signs of Fall

Date: 09/29/2004

Number: 1

We live on the bluff overlooking the Illinois River where there are lots of woods and wildlife. We only see Robins a few times a day, one or two. Starting yesterday, Robins are flying crazy in our area. There are about 50-60 of them They are very active from around 6-8 a.m. Just in the last hour I have experienced 5 Robins hitting our house, windows and screened in porch. They lay stunned on the ground and get back up in 1/2 hour or so. They seem to be fighting each other alot, zooming fast and reckless in flight, and making quite a bit of noise. From what I've read, this is not part of their behavior in migration.
