Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 10/06/2004

Number: 1

Finally ventured out to ACU yesterday and found around 250 monarchs clustering in front of the Admin building. However, they were scattered around the pecan trees unlike previous years when they concentrated in three or four of same trees every year. I found two, three, four together and then 30 to 40 in a couple of clusters. We are seeing a steady stream heading south but not in the significant numbers we have seen in the past. I am still counting around 30 to 50 when I make a trip 15 miles west of Clyde to Abilene.
