Friday, October 1, 2004, a few eggs and larvae were still present at the Choctaw Trails site in southwest Jackson, MS. Oviposition has continued on Asclepias viridis at this site since mid-August. Saturday, October 2, 2004, we held a monarch tagging demonstration at the Clinton Nature Center using reared monarchs from eggs collected at Choctaw Trails. Larvae and packaged, fresh milkweed were distributed among those attending as part of our (CNC) "Adopt a monarch" program. All of the 700+ kindergarten and 1st grade students in the Clinton school district have Choctaw Trails larvae in their classroom which they are rearing. Adults from this activity are also being tagged and released as they emerge.
