Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/14/2004

Number: 1

During the past week, our students have captured, tagged, and released 13 wild monarchs found nectaring outside our classroom. This is in addition to the 22 healthy monarchs we raised from eggs found on our milkweed. The students have been so excited to see the monarchs begin to migrate through our area. They've been spotted soaring over the playground, but especially nectaring in our beautiful butterfly bushes. Many of my students wanted to spend recess in the courtyard watching the monarchs!
