Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 10/23/2004

Number: 1

Just when I thought I had seen my last Monarch in Wisconsin, my husband spotted one today as we were driving along the road. It was bright and looked fresh, although it seemed to be having some difficulty flying, but maybe that was because it was flying into the wind. We live just north of Milwaukee. He was headed south. It was drizzling rain when we saw him and overcast. It is about 60 degrees outside. The next few days are supposed to be in the 60's and clearing up, so hopefully he/she can get far enough south to avoid any freezes in the north. I have to admit, I had the fleeting thought to stop and try to capture him and drive him down past Chicago but thought that might be going a little too far. :)
