Tulips PLANTED

Date: 11/24/2004

Number: 1

We will do a limited planting at our school, if I can remember to ask permission from my new principal. =) But, in addition, individual students will receive one or more Red Emperor bulbs. So we will actually be planting in approximately 60 different locations near our campus as well. Students will keep an observation journal, and hopefully provide us with some pictures as well.

Our school is starting a butterfly garden and garden club for students, and those gardeners will also receive bulbs as a reward for their interest. The garden will provide some nectaring plants for monarchs on their yearly migrations, and other native plants as well. Sara Brent and Brenda Forrester are working together on this project.

We'll keep you informed as our bulbs begin to emerge, and hopefully bloom. In the past, rainy winters here in Kingwood, have been our best chance for blooms, and this winter is predicted to be colder and wetter than usual. So, all in all, things are favorable!
