Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 01/15/2005

Number: 1

I'm in Clearwater, FL just a few miles north of St. Pete.
I have observed quite a few larva in my Milkweed patch.
In fact they have just about cleared each plant of leaves.

I also grow milkweed in pots and bring them inside when
i see larvae on them. I currently have about 6 in pupae
form now. I have observed a few chrysalis that have been
lost to Tachinid flies.

During the warm weather of the past few weeks i've also
observed many male Monarchs in my yard. Up to five or
six of them at a time chasing each other around all day.
