Robin (WAVE seen)

Date: 02/01/2005

Number: 1

I was doing the dishes when I happened to look up. Up by our chicken coop we have a very large grove of sumac trees and I saw a large group of birds. The group split in two. One group leaving to go to the tops of my neighbors trees and the other group swooped down to eat the berries from the sumac. They spent quite some time eating. I was very surprised at such a large group of birds and went out to see what kind of bird it was. To my surprise, they were robins. They also gave their warning call as I got closer. I then knew for sure they were in fact robins. Later, I went out to get a branch of sumac for my children to sketch. When I tried to find a branch with some seeds still on it, it was very difficult. The robins had a feast! The next day, we went to the next town over and on our way we saw another huge flock of robins eating sumac on the side of the road. Could it have been the same group of robins? Maybe! Happy birding to all! Hannah
