Red-winged Blackbird (FIRST sighted)

Date: 02/03/2005

Number: 1

Having not seen a single robin yesterday, there were about 100 today. Late in the afternoon they were joined by perhaps 200 red-winged blackbirds. With all the rain we've recently had, Spring Creek which forms our northern property boundary, is out of its banks, and I saw nine wood-ducks today, swimming on the flood waters. We still have 30 or 40 American goldfinches, and four or five pine siskins feeding on nyjer in socks we put up for them.
